Farmworkers in North Carolina

During the Spring 2022 semester, I took CULANTH 236S with Dr. Charlie Thompson to fulfill my first elective requirement. Course content covered historical and modern oppression of farmworker voices and rights.

At Work on the Farm

Over the course of the semester, my classmates and I worked with Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF), an organization founded at Duke students that advocates for farmworker rights. We created an ArcGIS Story Map for SAF, highlighting the organization's progress over the past three decades. Please use the button below to access our final product.

The class was divided into sub-teams, each focusing on a different aspect of SAF's work. I contributed to research on SAF's advocacy work, especially as it related to child labor, by sorting through SAF's archives and completing online research.
