Food, Agriculture, and the Environment: Law and Policy

During the Fall 2022 semester, I took LAW 636 with Lee Miller to fulfill my second elective requirement. This course covered modern issues with the United States' Food System, especially related to the USDA.

Dairy Farm

The final project for this course required me to write a 12-page policy proposal for an agricultural issue of my choice. I chose to create marketplace regulations that provide fair economic opportunities for small farmers.

While completing research for this paper, I learned about existing USDA regulations and lack of enforcement in the market setting. I also became acquainted with the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946, which provides the foundation for my "locally grown" market proposal. See the below attachment of my final product.
